Mary….. Who

I embossed using my Lil Inkers squares and then stamped in the middle of it. I added a beautiful memory box die that was a gift from my friend  Jeanne, a few pearls and gingham bow and done! This could be done in any color.

Hi, this time the DT was asked to make a card with shades of gray and something about our own personality.  I chose M - Magnolia. Not only do I love the magnolia  flower on this M but M is kinda a big deal in my family .
For one, I am one of 7 Mary’s but our name is all one word.
Maryadona, Marybeth, Maryellen , Maryjo, Mark , Marykay, Marylou, Michael and Marysue! Yep even the boys name started with M. It's a long story and it was not intended to all start with Marysomething but as the girls kept coming my parents decided to go with it.  The girls don't have a middle name as our last name was very long. So one word and no middle name.
Thats my M story! So you see this card can be for almost anyone in my family even my mom!

Want to see what the DT has made?

Take care and enjoy this time you have!

  3. love your story of how Precious M is in your family, something to treasure for sure!
Well I only have one name and yes it starts with a M too, although I didn't like it when I was a young girl, ha, ha.
    A name is so important.
Love the shades of grey and the dry embossing you did, gives it an elegant feel and the MB die is just perfect with the tiny pearls.
The Gingham ribbon makes it classy!
Love gingham although I find it hard to combine it on my cards, ha, ha.
    Bye,

    Marjolein

  5. What a pretty card...Enjoyed your share...so interesting to read...you have a very special family for sure.
My story, I do have a middle name, was never too crazy over it...but when my daughter was born, I was stuck for a middle name so I gave her the same middle name...she didn't care for it either...but
When she gave birth to my granddaughter she gave her the same middle name, I said to her "but I thought you didn't like it?" she said she didn't but she just thought she would carry on the tradition. Not sure if my granddaughter likes it or not...smile.

  7. Beautiful and so elegant, Marybeth! I love all the embossing and white "greenery". Such a fun story. We have Marys in my family, too...my sis, my aunt. I'm the only one who wasn't named after a family member. Maybe because my Dad picked my name & Mom picked the others.

  11. Wow! A lot of M's in your family! My sister's family is all with the letter D...Don, Donna, Dean, Darla, Darrell, Darren. And, I guess I'm pretty partial to the letter M, also!:-) You created a lovely card, which is so pretty and elegant!

  12. This is just lovely--and can be used for so many of your family members--haha. Loved hearing the story of the Mary's. In my family--we have 3 M's--Marcia, Meryl and Marc--and two J's--Jay and Joyce. I love stories about how people got their names.

  13. Knock out card Marybeth! Your simply elegant cards take my breath away. (I think I will be casing this, as my mother would go nuts over your style.) I have the entire alphabet of these flowers, and for all the times I've used them' I've never done anything half this elegant - but those stamps thrill me. Your simple black and treatment really lets them strut their stuff.

Sorry I haven't left more comments lately. Every one of your posts deserves a nod, but I often lack time (because a snail would win the race if I challenged it). The cards you are making for the Twelve Kits of Occasions are wonderful. No matter what the style, you always come through with shining colors. (Is that suppose to be "flying" colors? Nah - shining colors is better.)

One of these days I'll get around to posting again . Hope your April is lovely and has just enough rain to help the plants grow. Bye for now, my busy talented friend.

  15. I came onto your sweet grey shaded card late, and relished reading the story of the 'M's' in your family. I think you need to write a book! Family is so important, after all, it's God's legacy on earth! Father, mother children and children's children. Well, I think I've said too much, but along with a beautiful card, you gave us all a precious glimpse into a beautiful life. Thank you dear lady! You are a bright light for everyone to enjoy!

  21. From a family with seven Ds, I can relate! This is going in my inspiration folder as I happen to have a D initial! I love, love the black and white. The gingham ribbon and flourishes are perfection!!

I'm sorry I've not been around for a while, Marybeth. I really enjoyed catching up! Your 12 kits spring makes are outstanding!!

I feel so badly listening to the weather reports about snow and tornadoes when it's supposed to reach the 80s here by Sunday. Sshh, don't tell them! Hugs, Darnell

  22. Thanks for sharing the story of your family's names. Being an only child, it hard to imagine life with so many children but I would have loved to have some siblings. Actually I do have a half sister who's 29 yrs. younger so not the same! Love your elegant card. It's beautiful in 'shades of gray', especially with the great embossing!

  24. Hey Marybeth!! Wonderful story! I think I remember you mentioning this before, but I'm not sure if you told us all the names. I'm such a fan of tradition and patter. Both of my kids' names end in an "n"! Hahaha, I know that totally does not count. ANYWAY, gorgeous card and good to know it will be easy to use!
